The Hows and Whys of Spending More Time Outside

Spending more time outside is one of those difficult things where you might know that you should be doing it, but that doesn’t automatically make it easier to fit into your schedule. People often have to work inside, and if that work is from an office rather than from home, you might be restricted with the amount of time that you can even leave your place of business.

If you work from home, it becomes about finding reasons to actually leave the house in the first place – but when it comes to the weekend, there are many ways that you can embrace this newfound direction.

How – Natural Walks

When you’re trying to think of ways to spend your free time, a walk often isn’t the most exciting answer. However, if you take the time to identify a natural, scenic route, you might end up much happier that you took the time to do so. Walking around in dense, noisy, urban environments might just make you more stressed due to traffic noise and pollution. When you go somewhere peaceful, natural and spacious, though, you might be surprised to discover that walking can be much more enjoyable than you gave it credit for.

Why – Health Benefits

As with anything, it’s about balance – spending all of your time outside simply isn’t realistic much of the time. Exercising outside and getting fresh air is inevitably going to have a positive impact on your health, but that doesn’t mean that you have to forgo your inside hobbies entirely.

How – Sun Socialization

If it’s a sunny day and you’ve planned to see your friends, spending time outside with them might not be the most revolutionary idea. However, it’s something that might still feel quite secondary – like taking a walk around town before going back inside somewhere. Instead, the right weather can lead to you being able to spend most of the day outside. Whether this is in the form of a barbecue or whether you investigate outdoor festivals or events, there may be many more options here than you initially suspected.

Why – Calming the Mind

Nature can also have a profound impact on your mental health, to the point where you feel less anxious, stressed or angry.
