Don’t break your PS5, follow our simple guide

If you want to keep your PlayStation 5 in pristine condition, there are a few things you should avoid doing. First and foremost, never use cleaning products or solvents on the console. These can damage the finish and even seep into the electrical components, causing serious problems.

To clean the exterior of your PS5, simply use a soft, dry cloth. If you need to remove any stubborn marks, use a slightly dampened cloth – never use any kind of liquid cleaner. When it comes to the interior of the console, it’s best not to try and clean it yourself. The risk of damaging something is simply too high. If you need to dust the inside of your PS5, contact Sony customer support for advice.

How to take off ps5 cover

If you need to remove the cover of your PS5 for any reason, make sure you follow these steps carefully. First, locate the small button on the back of the console near the HDMI port. This will release the catch that holds the top cover in place.

Once the catch is released, you can gently lift off the cover. Be careful not to pull too hard, as there are still a few cables connecting the cover to the main body of the console. With the cover off, you’ll be able to see the fan and other internals of your PS5. Again, we advise against trying to clean anything inside the console yourself.

Get a PS5 screen protector to prevent scratches and cracks

One of the best ways to protect your PS5 is to invest in a screen protector. These are inexpensive and easy to apply, and they’ll guard your console against scratches and accidental drops.

We’ve found the best screen protector for the PS5 is the ArmorSuit MilitaryShield Screen Protector. This ultra-thin film is virtually invisible once applied, and it’s designed to resist scratches, fingerprints, smudges, and even drops.

Don’t let your PS5 get too hot – use a cooling stand if needed

Your PS5 shouldn’t get too hot, but if you notice it starting to overheat, there are a few things you can do. Firstly, make sure the console is well ventilated and not obstructed by anything. If you’re using it in an enclosed space like a TV cabinet, consider moving it to a more open area.

If your PS5 is still overheating, you can buy a cooling stand that will help to disperse the heat. We like the PS5 Cooling Stand from Kootek, which has two built-in fans and four USB ports. This will keep your console cool and also free up space around it so that air can circulate more easily.

Handle your PS5 with care to avoid dropping it

The best way to avoid damaging your PS5 is to handle it with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to any kind of impact, as this could easily damage the internal components.

When moving your PS5, make sure you support the base unit at all times. Never pick up the console by its top cover, as this could cause the cover to come loose. Similarly, be careful when inserting or removing discs from the Blu-ray drive. Grip the disc firmly and make sure it’s properly aligned before inserting it, and don’t force it if it doesn’t seem to be going in smoothly.

Make sure the ports are covered when not in use

The ports on your PS5 are delicate, and they can be easily damaged if something is inserted into them incorrectly. When you’re not using the ports, it’s a good idea to cover them with port covers. This will protect the ports from dust and dirt, and it will also prevent you from accidentally inserting something into the wrong port.
